Please join us!

The Valentine’s Day Connection

You may note that Capitol Day falls on Valentine’s Day.  We see this as a great opportunity to underscore the idea that love should not hurt and that Texas wants to continue to care for survivors of sexual assault and family violence by fully funding family violence and sexual assault services.

Bring Some Props

We would love for you to prepare and bring with you Valentine’s Day posters and signs that you can carry with you as we march from the First Methodist Church to the Capitol steps.  As in previous years, using the Valentine’s theme, it would be great to create messages concerning the need to foster positive relationships and support for victims of family violence or sexual assault.  You might use “Love shouldn’t hurt”, “Family Violence Breaks Hearts” and other similar messages on your signs.  Or consider creating heart-shaped posters that simply ask for full funding.

And here’s a scoop: this year, we will award $100, $75 and $50 Target gift cards in recognition of the first, second and third top Valentine’s as voted by attendees to Capitol Day. So get those creative juices flowing!
