Our client is the Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault, or more commonly known as “MOCSA.”   After a number of years, MOCSA’s current President has elected to retire at year end, and we have been engaged by the Board of Directors to lead the search for a new leader.

MOCSA (www.mocsa.org) serves as the sole rape crisis center for the bi-state metropolitan Kansas City area, and is a leading provider of sexual violence victim services and prevention services.  They offer therapy, support and advocacy for victims of rape and sexual assault, for sexually abused children and families, for adult survivors of child sexual abuse, and for others touched by sexual violence.  

Executive Overview

This position reports directly to a highly respected and committed Board of Directors.  The President’s key accountabilities include:

  • Providing leadership and direction with all long-term strategic and operational planning, programs and fund development initiatives.
  • Ensuring the financial and operational health and well being of the organization with an emphasis on serving as primary contact for key local funding relationships and leveraging available federal and state contracts and grants.
  • Cultivate and leading development efforts with key funder relationships throughout Kansas City.
  • Serving as the spokesperson for MOCSA.  Continuing to advance MOCSA’s role as the leading provider of rape crisis services, child sexual abuse treatment services, prevention and education to the community-at-large through strategic alliances and collaboration with community leadership, government resources, state and local judicial and law enforcement among others.

Required Credentials

  • Demonstrated success in leading and directing a non-profit organization of similar size and scope which includes active working experience with a non-profit Board either as an officer or volunteer.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of trends and issues, laws and regulations related to non profit management.  Specific experience in the field and funding for sexual violence prevention, education and/or therapeutic care would be highly valued.
  • Demonstrated success with creating, planning, and implementing new business growth and development; as well as exceptional team leadership skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree with an Advanced Degree in Social Work, Healthcare, Allied Health fields, Business or related field of study strongly preferred.
