In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, an unknown number of people were raped, and hundreds of sexual assault survivors were driven from their homes under traumatic circumstances. Six sexual assault crisis centers were temporarily shut down; five remain closed. Staff members have been displaced are survivors are without the support and services they have always turned to.
