General Information
The Texas Association Against Sexual Assault (TAASA) is soliciting workshop proposals for its annual conference to be held in San Antonio from February 26 - March 1` 2012. Our theme for this anniversary year conference is "30 years of Working to End Sexual Violence in Texas." This theme is reflective of our collective long-term dedication to meeting the needs of survivors in Texas through services and social change. We have overcome many barriers to develop and protect sexual assault services in communities across Texas and together we are changing our state for better. This year's conference will celebrate our accomplishments as well as highlight the considerable work left undone. Workshops will include: advanced clinical, basic and intermediate advocacy, primary prevention, social justice, underserved populations, sexual assault nurse examiners, volunteer management and more.
TAASA's 30th Anniversary Annual Conference should engage the first -time attendee as well as challenge our veteran attendees. We are soliciting proposals that reflect the great work being accomplished by professionals across the state.
Workshops should have an emphasis or direct relevance to the field of sexual assault. Proposals should relate to the "30 Years of Working to End Sexual Violence in Texas" theme such as:
- Sustainability issues for direct services and prevention

- Innovative use of volunteers to maximize our potential to serve
- Best practices for therapists working with sexual assault survivors
- Evaluation as a tool for SANEs, advocates, and law enforcement to grow in their professions
- New research that is moving the field forward
- Social media and other communication techniques to reach survivors, market our programs, and change our communities
