Annette Burrhus-Clay, Executive Director

Annette Burrhus-Clay is TAASA’s executive director. She has over 25 years experience working in the sexual assault and domestic violence fields as a service provider, trainer and administrator in Texas and California. She has been a speaker and consultant in the areas of sexual violence, workplace violence/sexual harassment, working with special populations and reaching out to closed communities. Her areas of expertise and interest include working with elderly, teens and male sexual assault victims as well as collaboration and outreach to the military, universities, churches and other traditionally self-contained institutions. Annette is a member of the Texas Governor’s Planning Council on STOP Violence Against Women, the Texas Attorney General’s Crime Victims Advisory Group, the statewide Primary Prevention Planning Committee and the Texas Interpersonal Violence Prevention Collaborative. She also serves on other statewide and national advisory groups and boards devoted to sexual violence and related issues, including the National Alliance to End Sexual Violence (NAESV) and the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN) and has worked with the Department of Defense and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on sexual violence initiatives. Annette is a licensed law enforcement instructor in the state of Texas and holds a master’s degree in political science from Sul Ross State University.
