Wende Hilsenrod, Training Specialist
Wende is one of TAASA’s Training Specialists. Beginning her career as a speech pathologist, Wende started working with victims of violence in 1993 as SafePlace’s advocate on the Family Violence Protection Team in Austin. Wende has also worked with at-risk youth, as a victim/witness counselor and legal advocate. Her areas of expertise include how to reach underserved populations, chemical dependency issues and sexual assault, communications and human trafficking. Wende is a member of the Central Texas Coalition Against Human Trafficking and TAASA's Cultural Diversity Task Force. She holds bachelor’s degrees in communications sciences and disorders and psychology from the University of Texas at Austin, as well as a master’s degree in human services from St. Edwards University in Austin. Wende is also a drug and alcohol counselor, a community mediator and a certified TCLEOSE instructor.
